STATE AND AREA INITIATIVESBringing SACAC to You! SACAC is the largest of the 23 state and regional associations affiliated with the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). We stretch across nine states and the Caribbean and boast a membership of some 1700 professionals. The State and Area Initiatives are a means of building an effective grassroots structure for SACAC. While it would be nice to increase SACAC membership through programming and other efforts, the primary objectives of the State and Area Initiatives are to:
Initiatives are generally led by two co-chairs (often one from the high school side, one from the college side). They solicit others in their state or area to join the effort: high school and college, public and private, relative newcomers and experienced veterans. Together, this team facilitates programs that address the needs and desires of college admission professionals in their service area. Examples of State and Area Initiatives activities include: drive-in workshops (a daylong mini-conference); roundtable receptions (a luncheon workshop organized around a single topic); sessions at a state school counselor association meeting; state dinners at the SACAC annual conference; mentoring for new college admission professionals; and involvement in SACAC government relations, human relations, membership, and other programs. If you'd like to get involved in your state or area, please contact the relevant co-chair(s) listed below for your state/area or the: SACAC STATE AND AREA INITIATIVES CHAIRS:Sarah Bast, IB Coordinator/IB Counselor West High School 3300 Sutherland Avenue Knoxville, TN 37919 865-594-1265
