–
April 15, 2021
WHAT:
A highlights reel-style program that offers a brief overview of the major concepts in college access counseling - designed to kickstart entry into the field. Attendees will be assigned to an expert coach who will facilitate small group discussions during the program.
FREE and open to the public. Advance registration required. Spaces limited.
Topics covered include:
-
Myths, facts, and finding good fit/match colleges
-
Student writing (essays, short answers)
-
Educator writing (letters of recommendation, school profiles)
-
School-wide systems for getting the work done
Note: The "On Ramp" to College Access Counseling program works perfectly as a lead-in to SACAC's Virtual Annual Conference - also free and open to the public this year!
WHO:
Educators (school counselors, teachers, program coordinators, administrators), with limited college counseling experience, working in schools without strong college-going cultures.
Interested in getting a quick understanding of college counseling? Unsure what list-making, school profiles, and net price calculators really are? Wish more students from your school were able to attend college? Then this program is for you!
Note: This program will be conducted as a Zoom meeting, not a webinar. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in small groups through facilitated Q&A sessions. The Zoom meeting link will be provided to registrants.
If you wish to attend, please register here.
