This session will help provide school counselors with an advanced understanding of how to effectively utilize trauma-informed practices to recognize the signs & symptoms of trauma, help create a physically & emotionally safe environment, establish trust & boundaries, support autonomy & choice, create collaborative relationships & participation opportunities & using a strengths & empowerment-focused perspective to promote resilience to reduce re-traumatization & promote healing. 10:00-10:30 AM Changes and Updates to FAFSA and the Bright Futures Scholarship*
Paying for post-secondary education is an ever-growing concern for students & families; however, Federal Student Aid reports the FAFSA completion rate continues to be on a downward trend. This session will provide strategies counselors can implement within their community to increase FAFSA completion.
